an odd thing
happened to me on Friday night.
I was downtown sitting and talking to my friends near their hotdog cart, (as regular readers know I have NO social life so I hang out people watching and goofing with friends downtown outside the bars) and this really hot looking guy comes up to me and says...
"Can I ask you a favor?"
I am usually a bit weary of such things but he says "Can I kiss you on the cheek?"
I actually get asked for hugs at least once or twice a week but this did surprise me a bit cause he seemed sober and was really polite so I said ok.
Now the weird thing was I offered him my left cheek which was closest to him and he said, "No the other one please."
So I turned my head and he gave me a light dry kiss on the cheek said thanks and walked away.
I wanted to see if he joined a bunch of laughing drunk guys figuring it was a bet or a dare but my friend Des asked why strangers are always asking to kiss and hug me....LOL She was shocked when I told her it was probably a dare. It is nice to have friends who think of you as just a friend not a fat friend.

Sweet corn
It is time for dual color sweet corn here, 6 for a dollar... thank goodness it is so cheap cause I have been on a binge.
I had 5 ears of it today and a pack of the new Ballpark Specialty franks, smoked flavor (yumm)). Yes I spread it out over the entire day.
I have been watching the olympics a lot and will be sad when they are over though it sucks how the other channels just give up and don't put anything good on oppisite them.

Little moments
Every once in a while you get a few perfect little moments, moments where everything gels just right to make you sigh and think damn I need more of these.
Today sitting on a couch in the back corner of Borders reading a Julia Quinn book, sipping a perfect cup of coffee (chocolate truffle with a dash of cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamon, a lot of sugar and some half and half in a earth ware mug)) I had one of those moments. It didn't last too long, they never do but it was still great.

It has finally been cool enough here to leave the sliding door to the balcony open and the kitties are loving getting to sit out there for hours, sometimes they even let me sit in their chair to watch the rain.

I hate having to wear glasses
I finally broke my glasses, after over a year or so of falling asleep with them on the bed I finally broke the stem off of one side, and since they are the spring kind it is not an easy fix.
I have an astigmatism so I can not easily just balance them on my face, after a very little while they give me a headache... this is the same reason I don't wear my contacts all that long they don't correct for it.
Anyway it is worse when I am on the computer so I have not been doing much more then checking mail this week. Hopefully I will be able to get a new pair soon.
MIND YOU
this has NOT stopped me from watching, and lusting after, the swimmers in the Olympics. Oh man what bods those boys have.

Meteors
Tonight was the highpoint of the Perseid meteor shower.
I went out in the hills around Boise around 10:30 with some friends and we saw about a dozen, around 4:30 AM I went out by myself and saw maybe 30 or so in half an hour.
I drove about 15 mins (if that) from downtown up inot the hills to a place called rocky canyon... there is a big turn out and a place for people to unload horse trailers right where the road turns from paved to dirt. I pulled in there and pulled out the air mattress and put it on the ground by the car and lay there ((this is a very undertraveled place and I could see well in advance if any cars were coming)) there was a van across the street also watching and so for about half an hour I lay there watching the meteors and watching the cresant moon rise with venus to one side.
The next metwor shower of any size is in Oct.

Just can't help it
Sometimes I go into the local Yahoo chat just to see how many guys will ask me to take off my shirt in a 30 min time period.
